Something strange is happening in Vitare. Lights have been flickering, objects are floating, and there is a distinct chill in the air. Our first ever Halloween event, The Haunting of Vitare, is nearly here, and V0.8.2 is the update that will kick it all off.

Alongside the spooky stuff, this update brings a round of bug fixes and improvements. There's new animations, chat improvements, and lots of bug fixes based on your feedback. Thank you to everyone who has reported issues and shared ideas. Keep them coming!

The Haunting of Vitare

Starts Saturday 10th October and runs for three weeks, through to the 31st October.

You may notice some changes and spookiness in the world as the countdown begins from tomorrow. We won't spoil what to look for, but keep your eyes (and ears) open.

Meet Madame Vesper

Madame Vesper is our very first NPC, and she needs your help! You can find her at our brand new public lot, Spirit Memorial Park. Pay her a visit and see what she has to say.

Brew potions at the cauldron

Gather your ingredients and get brewing. Potions made at the cauldron can help with skilling and give you motive boosts, so it's well worth having one around.

Carve pumpkins

Carve pumpkins that you've grown yourself or bought from other players, and you'll get something different every time. There's even a chance of a rare variation, so keep carving.

Spend your Candy

Earn Candy, our Halloween event currency, and spend it in the event store. It's packed with Halloween themed items, including decor, coffins, Halloween masks and more. Candy is only around for the event, so make sure you spend it while you can.

Gameplay Improvements

We've been busy tidying up the little things that make a big difference day to day.

Animations

  • A brand new sleeping animation, so getting into and out of bed looks much more natural
  • Your character now stands up properly after skilling, instead of snapping out of it

Money and skill scenarios

Money and Active Skill scenarios now show you what was right, neutral, or wrong, so you can see how your choices played out and do better next time.

Persona Creator

  • You can re-colour eyebrows again
  • The Persona Creator now remembers the colours you previously selected as you toggle through items, where possible, so you're not constantly starting from scratch

Chat

  • Room chat can now be resized from any corner or side
  • You can click on your chat input to move the caret and edit your text
  • Caret fixes across room chat and direct messages

Crafting and cooking

  • Roommates can now "Serve" crafted meals, and the meal will no longer end up in the inventory instead
  • Fixed the "Nothing was chosen" crafting error
  • Cooking Rush UI fixed

Interface

  • Better support for smaller-width displays. Please note that the minimum supported resolution is 1024x768
  • Text no longer gets cut off with an ellipsis across the UI. Elements now resize to fit what's inside them

Getting around

  • Pathfinding improvements to prevent blocked routes, especially on lots that have just loaded
  • Players no longer spawn on top of each other on the pavement
  • Street lamps have been moved to the opposite side of the road
