Frequently asked
macOS: Resolving “Vitare is damaged and can’t be opened” notification
Vitare isn’t actually damaged – macOS just doesn’t recognise us as a developer yet. To get past this warning, you need to run one short command in Terminal. You only need to do this once after dragging our app into your Applications folder.
Open Terminal (Open Apps or press ⌘ + Space, type Terminal, press Enter). Copy and paste this command: xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Vitare.app Press Enter.
If it asks for your Mac password, type it in (the cursor won’t move while you type, but it is registering) and press Enter again.
Launch Vitare from your Applications folder. It’ll open normally from now on.
This command tells your Mac to trust Vitare specifically. It doesn’t affect any other apps or weaken your security settings.
Windows: Why does Windows prevent installation or say Vitare contains a virus?
Don’t worry – this is a false alarm from Windows and the file is completely safe. This happens with new games that haven’t been through Microsoft’s verification process yet. Here’s how to fix it:
Option 1 – If the file was blocked during download
Click the Start button (the Windows logo in the bottom left of your screen) Type Windows Security and press Enter Click Virus & threat protection (it has a shield icon) Click Protection history Find the Vitare entry in the list and click on it Click the Actions dropdown and select Allow Try downloading and running Vitare again
Option 2 – If you see a blue screen saying “Windows protected your PC”
Click More info (it appears in small text on the same screen) Click Run anyway
If you are still having trouble after trying both options, please contact us at contact@vitaregame.com and we will help you through it.
What are the minimum system requirements to play?
We are still establishing the minimum requirements.
For Windows, you must be on Windows 10 or 11. Vitare will not run on any LTSB/Enterprise versions of Windows.
For Mac, you must have at least an M1 chip. Intel devices are not supported.
Is Vitare really free to play?
Yes – Vitare is free to play. You can create a character and earn in-game currency. We do offer an optional Subscription tier which provides added benefits such as multiple lots, weekly in-game currency, and various other benefits.
What is a Beta?
Beta is a period of development where a game is available to play, but the development is not yet finished. This means you may encounter bugs, some features may be incomplete or missing, and there could be unexpected downtime.
Playing during Beta helps us develop the game with the community, resolve bugs, and tweak the game before a full release.
Do I need an account?
Yes, you can create an account by clicking "Play now" in the navigation or by pressing "New User" on the game login screen.
How old do I have to be to play?
Vitare is an 18+ game and therefore you must be at least 18 years of age to join. As per our Terms and Conditions, we reserve the right to suspend any users who we suspect anyone to be under this age. This is not a game for teenagers or children.

Installing on macOS
Please follow these steps to install Vitare on your Mac.
- Open the .dmg and drag Vitare into your Applications folder.
- As we're a new developer, macOS may block the first launch or say the game is "damaged". Open Terminal (open Applications, or press ⌘ + Space, type Terminal and press Enter), then run:
xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Vitare.app
- Press Enter. If it asks for your Mac password, type it in and press Enter again.
- Launch Vitare from Applications — you won't need to do this again.
As we're a new developer, Apple doesn't yet recognise us. This simply tells your Mac to trust Vitare — it doesn't affect any other apps or change your security settings.
