Weekly Update

Another week has passed by – how quickly has that gone? As always, development on Vitare has been chugging away.

We are getting to a stage where most of the “big features” and systems for launch are ready for our Beta release. These will need player feedback to continue to tweak and evolve as time goes on – such as motive decay speed, dynamic object pricing, or object specific categories to name a few.

Here’s some highlights from this week:

  • New objects, animations and interactions! We have continued to add more objects to the game so that there’s a good selection at launch. Some object examples:
    • Showers – with a nudity blur of course! A quicker way to replenish your hygiene.
    • DJ Booth – where someone can DJ and play music to the lot, and other players can join the fun by dancing.
    • Disco Floor – Light up a room – quite literally!
    • Modular Sofas – Perfect for clubs or event spaces! You can use straight and curved sofas to create something fun and unique.
  • Audio streaming to players in a lot – DJ booths, stereos, pianos, you name it – everyone in the lot will be able to hear them in sync. We’ve also added door sounds as they open and close.
  • Furniture placement enhancements – You can now toggle off-grid placement and full 360 rotation by holding ALT (PC) or Option (Mac) on your keyboard.
  • Updated furniture categories – to make it easier to discover and group types of furniture, we have moved from room-based categories to function-based (e.g. Comfort, Surfaces, Lighting).
  • Pie-menu sub menus – pie menus can now have parent and sub categories. This has been used for the emotes wheel.
  • Loading Screen enhancement – The progress bar more accurately reflects the game loading progress and does not freeze the game client – phew!

Our intention going into this coming week is to continue to add more objects and interactions into the game – we feel this is crucial for a game like Vitare so that lots come alive and incentivises people to create lots of all shapes and sizes.
