It’s a Bank Holiday weekend here in the UK! For those who are in other countries, that is where we get an extra day off on Monday which makes it a 3 day weekend!
I’ve been working away on Vitare over the long weekend – there’s been some fun bugs to fix but the majority of my time has been adding more and more of our objects to the catalog in-game. When we launch, I want to ensure there’s a great selection of objects across a variety of categories that you can use to create your dream spaces.
On the topic of bugs, one of the more interesting things that has been fixed is with object interactions and pathfinding. When you initiate an interaction with an object, your character tries to work out the quickest path to this. In some cases, they were going to an exterior wall and using an object on the other side! This has now been changed, to ensure they always go to the room the object is in. No more teleporting through walls, thank you!
Another fun feature that we’ve finally got working is door animations. When any character walks up to a door, the door will now open in the direction of travel. We’ve also added a few arch ways to the game incase you prefer to be doorless.
Now, you were lured into this blog post with the promise of a screenshot! Check out my new kitchen in-game – you can see my player alongside a visitor who just so happens to be walking through the door.
You will notice modern kitchen counters, wall cabinets, cooker hoods, and a sleek glass dining table!

Hope that you are enjoying your weekend. It really does feel like the foundations are almost complete so we can release into our Beta. I’m very excited to let you try Vitare, play in ways that will help discover new bugs, and to use your feedback to develop this game together.
