Skills in Vitare

One of the most exciting features that we are working on is taking shape – Skills!

What Are Skills?

Skills represent your character’s growing expertise in three core areas at launch:

  • Cooking
  • Charisma
  • Engineering

Every skill runs from level 0 to level 20. Getting started is easy. Reaching the top takes dedication – and a little help from your friends.

How Do You Skill?

Skilling happens naturally through interaction. Use the right objects, and your skill will grow. A bookshelf helps you study. A mirror helps you practise your charm. A workbench helps you engineer.

Progress isn’t instant – it builds gradually over real time, and the higher your level, the longer each step takes. But there’s a secret to speeding things up.

The Social Advantage

Skilling is faster when you’re not alone.

If other players in the same property are working on the same skill as you, your progress accelerates. Up to six players can contribute to this bonus before it caps out.

Having more skill-building objects on a lot also increases your speed, up to a maximum of six objects. So a well-equipped property with a full room of motivated players is the fastest place to skill in the game.

The result? Properties naturally become social hubs and lot owners have a real incentive to invest in their space and keep it busy. Everyone benefits from showing up.

Skills Properties

Vitare has a property category system – and Skills is one of them.

If a lot is listed as a Skills property, everyone on it earns a bonus multiplier on top of everything else. It’s the single best place to skill in the game, and the best Skills lots will become destinations in their own right.

Skills Decay

Skills are not permanent. If you neglect a skill for long enough, it will very slowly begin to drift back. Not sharply, but enough to reward players who keep their skills active.

A few things to know:

  • Decay only happens while you are online. Logging off does not hurt your skills so you’re not penalised for your real life!
  • Decay is paused while you are actively skilling. The skill you’re currently working on is always protected.
  • Decay only kicks in once you have a meaningful total across your skills. Complete beginners are protected entirely while they find their feet.

The intention is that regular players will never notice decay at all, and is designed to keep the skill ecosystem alive.

What Skills Unlock

Skills aren’t just numbers. As the game grows, higher skill levels will unlock:

  • New interactions with objects that lower-skilled players can’t access
  • Better payouts from money-making objects
  • Access to skill-gated community activities and events

The higher your skill, the more the world opens up.

What’s Coming First

We’re launching with the three core skills – Cooking, Charisma, and Engineering – alongside the first wave of skill-building objects.

You’ll be able to see your progress in real time with a visual indicator above your character as you skill up, and you’ll receive a notification every time you reach a new level.

More skills, more objects, and more ways to use your expertise are already planned for future updates.

Skills will be one of the most important systems in Vitare – every session spent skilling with friends will feel like time well spent.

We can’t wait to see what you build.
