Something new is coming to Vitare. On Monday 7th September we are running our first ever live event, and since this is the first one, we want to explain exactly how they work before it starts.
What is a live event?
A live event is a limited time season that runs across the whole world at once. Everyone is taking part in the same thing at the same time, the world itself may change while it runs, and when it's over it may not run again.
While an event is live you will see an event panel in game. That is where you pick up your tasks, watch your progress, and claim your rewards.
The important part is that events may be the only way to get certain items. Once an event ends, its rewards may not come back in the shop later.
Our first event: The First Harvest
Autumn is approaching, and Ms Ada, a gardening expert, wants to know what the soil across the Vitare world can really do. She is running a growing trial in every neighbourhood, and she cannot do it on her own.
That is where you come in. She needs gardeners willing to break ground, put seeds in, keep them watered, and report back on how well they grow.
This event will last for two weeks!
How you take part: tasks
Everything in an event starts with tasks. These are jobs Ms Ada needs doing, and you will find them listed in the event panel.
Some tasks are available for the whole event, and a few of those can be completed daily. Others unlock as the event moves into its next week, so there is always a reason to come back!
For The First Harvest, expect tasks like:
- Growing and harvesting particular crops - from quick radishes up to a single stubborn watermelon
- Keeping your own planters watered
- Watering a neighbour's plants so their garden does not dry out while they are away
- Visiting other people's lots to see what they are growing
- Getting your plot set up with gardening objects
- Earning money
Every task you complete pays you two different things - points and blossoms.
Points move you along the milestone track
Points are your progress. They only ever go up and you never spend them.
As your points build, you move along the milestone track, which is a row of rewards stretching across the event. Reach a milestone and you can claim it - you may get rewarded with V$, Blossoms or unique furniture!
The furniture is the exciting part because we have new event-exclusive objects that you can earn and purchase. Ms Ada's Notice Board, The Scarecrow, her Produce Stand and the Hedgerow Arch are event only, and the further along the track you get, the better the objects are.
Blossoms are the currency you spend
Blossoms are event currency. You earn them from tasks, from hitting milestones, and even from logging in each day.
You spend them in the event store, which appears as a new Event category in Shop Mode while the event is live.
Some of the better items in the store also ask for a certain number of points before you can buy them.
The world changes with you
An event is not only a list of tasks, the entire world of Vitare changes. As The First Harvest moves through its phases, the sky over Vitare will change colour and the world will sound different around you.
Key dates
- Friday 4th September: the pre-event countdown begins
- Monday 7th September: the event opens
- Monday 14th September: the second half begins with new tasks
- Sunday 20th September: the event closes at 23:59 UTC
When it ends
Everything you earned or bought is yours permanently! Any Blossoms you have not spent are converted into V$.
If you want a head start, use this weekend to get your gardening skill polished!
We are really looking forward to seeing what everyone grows.
